Shell and Copper Display — Piece No. D013

Fine ribs run down the shells on this hammered copper display, from the rust-brown shell on one arm of a wave to the smaller lilac-tan one on the other, while a rose shell banded in deeper mauve hangs at the center of the frame beneath the spiral.

Below the breaking-wave curl, a loose corkscrew of copper wire and a single bead lead down to a long, matte white shell shaped like an angel wing, its faint growth lines pale against the warm wire above.

Every shell here was picked up on a North Carolina beach. Light skips along the hammered facets of the oval and spiral in this custom piece made for a friend.
