Shell and Copper Display — Piece No. D012

From a small ring at the top, the hammered copper wire swings out into a wide oval and winds inward in a spiral, then crests into a little breaking wave whose arms reach out to hold the shells below.

Picked up on a North Carolina beach, a plum-and-cream striped shell hangs on a copper bead inside the frame, with a larger shell whose purple-brown ribs fade to a cream edge on one arm of the wave and a small rosy shell marked with pink chevrons on the other.

This custom piece made for a friend ends in the crest of a creamy white spiraled shell, its knobbed whorl catching the light just beneath a hammered copper coil.
