Copper wire twists into a slender trunk at the base of a dark, half-moon stone, then splits into dozens of fine branches that fan up and out to trace the rounded curve of the rock's edge.
The branches kink and wander in small, deliberate bends rather than smooth arcs, giving the canopy a wind-bent, weathered quality, while the roots below fan out across the stone's lower face in the same wiry, tangled style.
Mounted upright on a low, square oak block with a visible straight grain, the piece stands with the stone's flat gray face turned forward and its dark tone set off by the warm wood underneath.
